Omg. This is my life. I want to be buried with this." - Timmy H.
my story
Hi! I'm Amy! As an artist, writer, blogger, traveler, teacher, and storyteller, I’ve always been captivated by the power of narrative. Stories shape our perspectives, deepen our empathy, and strengthen our connections. They help us understand where we’ve been and who we are. As an artist, I wanted to express them in a less traditional way.
With Story Ink., I set out to capture these personal narratives in a unique, hand-drawn visual form. Each piece is custom-designed to reflect your story—whether it’s the story of your life, a cherished friendship, a marriage, a meaningful place, or any experience that deserves to be preserved. Your story is one of a kind. Let’s turn it into art.
So...what's your story?

STRESS: After reading "Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle" by Emily Nagoski and Amelia Nagoski, if felt important for me to create a visual of the 7 ways to reduce stress in your body.

LOVE: Timmy and Julie have been friends for their entire lives. Their life is filled with stories and inside jokes that no one else can decipher.
BOSLEY: A wedding gift that tells the story of Meagan and Matt's love as they begin their marriage.

BONNEY: This is the collective story of 4 generations of Bonney women, Florence Bonney Cummings, Florence Shirley Bonney, Bonney Anne, and Onora Bonney.

SALIMAH: A story of friendship built on trust, love, and mutual respect. This one, between Sarah and Salimah has stood the test of time.

THE COTTAGE: There is a place where, for generations, this family has called The Cottage their family's second home. In Lewes, Delaware, cousins, aunts, uncles and children have a deep connection to this place and the memories it holds.

how is story ink. priced?Minimum size and base price for visual stories is $500 for an 18” x 6” image. This size usually fits a 4-6 letter word. I keep the font large enough to images that are placed inside the negative space of the letters are big enough to see clearly. Note: For a 7+ letter word, the size of the piece would increase to accommodate the length of the word. The cost is $1/square inch extra after the initial $500 minimum charge. For example, for a 10-letter word, the size would need to increase to 36” x 8”, which is a difference of 180 square inches from the base size/price. This example would equal $500 + $180 = $680 total plus $10 domestic shipping. Flat Rate: $10 Shipping (Domestic), TBD International Framing NOT included

what is the process of creating a visual story?Step 1 Initial Intake Conversation We have a brief phone or Zoom conversation to go over the process and see if you have questions. At this point, you will need to determine the "centerpiece word" which will then inform the size and pricing of the piece (Framing is not included). For example, “Love” would be less work than “Monaghan.” A due date is also required at this time. Step 2 Questionnaire Form Sent via Email I will send you a form that asks a variety of questions. The intent is to prompt memories, stories, quotes, traditions, songs, etc. to get your brain going. In order for me to get a good visual of your life and experiences, please be as detailed as possible in your answers. Please feel free to attach any photos to the form. Note: These are strictly black and white so find other defining characteristics in your descriptions aside from color. INITIAL PAYMENT DUE (20%) Step 3 Follow up Conversation Once you’ve answered the form and you have emailed it back, we have another phone conversation in order to get more background information to put some of those ideas into context and for me to start thinking about the story more visually. This is the time to really get descriptive. As you talk, I'll write notes. Step 4 Drawings and Final Approval I begin working on the drawings with pencil. I will send a progress image via email or text to ensure I've included everything, if there are changes/corrections to be made, or you've suddenly thought of something else you need to add. Please look carefully at spelling, design, etc. Once approved, I start inking. FINAL PAYMENT DUE (80%) plus $10 Shipping for domestic shipping. *For international, shipping will be determined. Step 5 Photo Collection The negative space inside ONE or MORE letters allows for any photographs. I would need you to supply high-resolution image(s) (300 dpi or larger) that can be inserted into those spaces. While I complete the ink, you will be searching for the best photos to be inserted. Step 6 Address and On-Time Delivery If shipping, please send me your address to be delivered before your requested due date. Tips: 1. Please be as descriptive as possible in relaying your story. The more detail you give, the more I have to work with. 2. I will need at least 4 weeks (28 days) after the questionnaire is returned to complete and deliver the project on time for domestic deliveries. 3. Please check emails and/or texts for prompt responses to questions regarding your visual story. 4. Shipping and Framing are not included. I will give you the final size of the document in advance so you have ample time to order a frame. Note: I recommend custom framing from www.arttoframes.com for quick and reasonable frames.
